This is the story of an ascetic artist as he prepares for his death. He has betrayed everyone who loves him, trading a happy family life for languishing in poverty in an abandoned basement, cursing all of humanity with its morals and standards, and offers a challenge to God. He wanted to proudly proclaim himself and artist and paint pictures which have yet to be seen by a single soul.

This is a story from that man’s life, told in three chapters from his birth to his death, unfolding through metaphorical quests, trials of the soul and a global discovery of what life truly is.

This story, straddling the line between documentary and narrative, is young director Ivan Oganesov’s story of his own father: as an artist, as a man and, of course, as a father and his relationship to his son.

Alongside the premiere of the film, an exhibit of Fyodor’s paintings was organized. Ivan filmed for nearly five years and the finished product was met with high praise of cinematic maestros like Andrey Zvyagintsev and Ivan S. Tverdovsky.
