Film poetry “Violin and a little nervously” Mayakovsky
Film poetry

This film adaptation of Vladimir Mayakovsky’s “Violin, and a Little Nervous” was created as part of Anatoly Bely’s Cinematic Poetry project.

The legendary poet’s “Violin, and a Little Nervous” was read by Moscow Art Theater actor and creator of the project Anatoly Bely. Ivan Oganesov directed, and the piece was filmed at Moscow’s Sovremennik Theater.

From the very first moments of the film, audiences are plunged into the central figure’s dream world. He comes to, awoken by a violin. It begs, it demands, it calls him over. Our hero follows the sound, the music sends him in search of truth, and the music itself offers an answer to his questions.

The idea was to amplify the modicum of insanity felt in the poem using chaotic sounds.

The film was featured at Sochi’s Kinotavr (2018), the 2nd annual Gorky International Film Festival, Dvizhenie (2017), and Vostok-Zapad (2017).

It was also featured in the Cinematic Poetry Collection and screened at Formula Kino and Cinema Park theaters.
